Corbett embraces outsourcing

I would just like to let everyone know that Gov. Tom Corbett is in the process of outsourcing hundreds of jobs to Boston. These jobs were part of what caused the Erie Times-News to publish the Aug. 3 article "Care workers' pay stops."

There had been a good working fiscal management services program in which local agencies throughout the state processed payroll and other money for people with disabilities. The governor, disregarding strong protests, decided to go with three centralized Pennsylvania agencies for fiscal management services. This met with the forewarned disaster the Erie Times-News wrote about.

Now Gov. Corbett has decided, rather than go back to a working system, to go with a Boston-based management system. A quick Internet search on this company found problems more severe than what the Erie Times-News article published about Christian Financial Management. The latest change means even greater danger for people with disabilities needing attendant care.

The management service Corbett has chosen has forced many people in other states to go into nursing homes. Nursing home costs average over $200 a day, or $72,000 per year. Corbett is not only outsourcing jobs, he is risking the lives, health and independence of the people he swore he would help. And, he is costing the taxpayers a lot of money!

Mike, I've tried to find the information you referred to finding with a web search concerning Public Partnerships, Ltd in MA, but haven't found anything other than their company website. Perhaps I'm not using the right combination of words in my search string. Would you be so kind as to provide links to whatever articles or other information you found? I've been researching for days in preparation for a petition to demand these changes be overturned, and evidence that a transfer to this company could create even more problems for more people would be very useful! I'm a consumer currently without any caregiver, and experiencing difficulties in hiring anyone new, thanks to the problems with payroll related to the switch to CFM in July. If you would prefer not to publish those links here, you are more than welcome to send them to be privately at originalrottiegrrrl@yahoo.com Thank you!
